...home of the Creative Nomad

Curious about the Creative Nomad moniker? No mystery. I'm a creative wanderer. "Multi-disciplinary" if you wanna get fancy. I don't...ever.

I'm restless by nature, pivoting from this to that. Sometimes returning back again to that first thing either chasing a real or imagined memory of how the former thing once felt. Follow? If not, simple version: Catch me doing any of these (sometimes all at once...you never know. I rarely do!):

  • Designing odd characters

  • Dreaming up wonky worlds

  • Illustrating unwitnessed moments

  • Writing whimsical stories & poetry

  • Sculpting wonderfully weird things

Whatever I'm doing in the studio, you can bet everything that I'm just chasing some shiny idea down some creative path.

But, hey...thanks for stopping by! I appreciate your visit, enjoy!

character design!
what i dig the most...
 but why?
ok,

Well. For many reasons, to be perfectly honest. For one, I believe I love creating characters above all other forms of interaction with my imagination because it's a large part of how my mind works.

Example: I hear an unusual word and my mind, unaware of its true meaning, will yearn for that word to be someone. The sound of the word will often point to what kind of an entity this new friend is: a robot (kinda my favorite sort), a creature, an animal, an alien, or any combination of these mentioned.

Then if something clicked within that process (yeah, even that early on) I'll crave knowing what that character looks like. Then what they're all about: their personality, their habits, their likes and dislikes, and on and on.

But perhaps the most fascinating aspect I've witnessed with character design is this: the longer I hang out with a character, the more likely that character is to reveal things about themselves. And the whole journey with a character takes me from meeting a cool little stranger to forging a lasting friendship with a trusted pal. Sometimes, and I kid you not, characters will share secret info about fellow beings in the world they live in. Hilarious to no end. It's never not a journey (and I find it to be) always a worthwhile and highly entertaining adventure!

I missed painting traditionally. Oil paints were my doorway into the realm, but once inside the fumes were enough to cause a quick exit. With acrylics, no solvents or mediums other than water allow me to enjoy mucking about without incurring a migraine's wrath. And I kinda like that!
